Library Book List

Hello! It has been awhile since I have posted our monthly library list of books we have been enjoying! We have also been adding art projects with the books in which we really love the art. Enjoy!

My First Little House Books
by Laura Ingalls Wilder

B is for Bear by Roger Priddy (A perfect size touch & see book for very young children.)

Hurricane by David Wiesner (A fun adventure book about two brothers imaginations that run wild after a hurricane.)

Tuesday by David Wiesner (This is a wonderful story told by pictures. It is very funny and allows your child to explore their imagination!)


All Things Bright and Beautiful by Ashely Bryan (This book is absolutely the brightest and most colorful book I have seen! It also has the music in the back so you can sing the song.)

I Love Bugs!
by Emma Dodd (A busy & bold colored book about bugs.)


Seven Blind Mice by Ed Young (This Caldecott Honor Book is a wonderful story about seeing things from a narrow vision is not always best. Looking at the whole helps us see much better.)

Jibberwillies at Night
by Rachel Vail, illustrated by Yumi Heo (A fun book about how a young girls imagination comes alive when she goes to bed at night.)


Birds by Brian Wildsmith (We really enjoyed the beautiful art in this simple book about different types of birds.)

Library List

Welcome back library list!

My boys and I love the wonder of so many stories waiting for little imaginations to join them. The many colorful books that call us to pick them up, sit down and enjoy their story~so check out some of these titles that we have enjoyed this past week!

A Book of Sleep by Il Sung Na A beautifully illustrated book about a little owl's world; awake while everyone is sound asleep!

Color Farm by Lois Ehlert This very fun book has a cut-out picture on each page that peeks into what you might find as you turn the page. Bold primary colors make it fun to look through.

Count! by Denise Fleming This book is full of larger than life, bright pictures as you count up to 10!

Hello Robots! by Bob Staake Four robots have special jobs that they each enjoy, but when a rainstorm mixes up their brains, they must find a way to work it all out!

Hey Mr. Choo Choo; Where are you going? by Susan Wierberg This rhythmic story will have you moving as you travel with Mr. Choo Choo and all he sees, hears and does on his railway ride.
Otis by Loren Long This book is about friendship that remains tried and true! A tractor and a young calf are personified, as we follow their sweet friendship over time.

The Amazing Human Body by Shar Levine and Leslie Johnstone Do people with bigger ears hear better? Looking for some fun experiments to try at home with your kids? This is the book! It helps answer fun questions with hand-on experiments.

The Turn-Around Upside-Down Alphabet Book by Lisa Campbell Ernst As you read this fun interactive book, you turn it all directions to see what kind of things each letter of the alphabet makes! Black pages with bold colorful pictures make this a fun read.

Child Training Tuesday: Library List

The Squire and the Scroll...............Jennie Bishop
Paintings by Presto McDaniels
This book is a wonderful training tool for young boys, concerning guarding their pure heart. There is also a version for young girls. It tells the story of a young squire who accompanies a knight on a quest to rescue the Lantern of Purest Light. Along the way, he uses the commands taught to him by his parents from his scroll. An example is "Make level paths for your feet." A wonderful training tool and a good story with beautiful paintings.

One Boy.........Laura Vaccaro Seeger
This fun book uses cut-outs within the page to help make words on the following page. Very fun reading with bright primary color pictures.

Inch by Inch..........Leo Lionni
(Caldecott Honor Book) A simple and eye-drawing book of artwork with a story of a winsome inchworm who measure everything under the sun!

Charlie & Lola: But excuse Me that is My book................... Lauren Child
Based on the television show Charlie and Lola, this book is very fun to read and look at! The pictures and print are whimsical and crazy. The story is about a book Lola loves that she is unable to bring home her favorite book, but finds something new and exciting!

ABCDrive........Naomi Howland A fun alphabet picture book that uses all the many different things we see as we travel for the alphabet words.

Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel.......Virginia Lee Burton
If you have not been exposed to Ms. Burtons artwork, it is enchanting! The sweet story of enduring friendship and loyalty will inspire your children to look out for the best for others.

The Little House......Virginia Lee Burton
This is one of my all-time favorites! The precious story of a little house that struggles to not get pushed out of her homestead as the city grows all around her. A very special person soon comes to bring life back to the Little House as the story comes to a sweet ending.

Island Boy.......Barbara Cooney
This book tells of a boy name Mattias and his lived that is well-lived. From the beginning of his life to the end, he made choices that were for the good of his own heart and those whom he loved. The artwork is amazing!

How My Library Grew by Dinah...........Martha Alexander
A very sweet story of how a little girls town library is built and how she and Teddy find something special when it is all finished!

Library Book List

This is our favorite pick for our recent trip to the library! Make sure to check out this beautiful book.

The Orange Shoes...................by Trinka Hakes Noble illustrated by Doris Ettlinger
This is a wonderful book that teaches children the value of a simple life, contentment and handling yourself well when others are unkind. It is a precious story of the importance of making the most of what you have been given.

My Name is Yoon........by Helen Recorvits, pictures by Gabi Swiatkowska This is a sweet book about a young Korean girl adjusting to her new life in America.

Is There Really a Human Race?.......by Jamie Lee Curtis & Laura Cornell This is a fun and colorful book about relishing the journey of life and making good choices along the way. How we lives makes a differnce in the world, one small step at a time.

More Than Anything Else.....by Marie Bradby, pictures by Chris K. Soentpiet Booker, age nine, has a strong desire to learn how to read, but faces challenges as an African-American boy working in the saltworks each day.

Once Upon a Farm.....by Marie Bradby, pictures by Ted Rand This book in told in poetic detail, describing the toils and pleasures of life on a farm. The simple joys, as well as the sadness of the changes when land developing begins.

The Boxcar Children......by Gertrude Chandler Warner We greatly enjoyed this first book in the Boxcar Children series. It is about 4 orphaned children who are tryinig to make it on their own, but soon find themselves i the care of someone kind~ which they did not expect. Eli was captivated by this book and we have moved to another. I found it most encouraging how the siblings treated one another and were so very happy with very little. (This is a chapter book)

Bear Wants More......by Karma Wilson, illlustrated by Jane Chapman Luke loved this sweet board book about a very hungry bear waking up from his hibernation!

Let's Dance Little Pookie.....by Sandra Boynton (need I say anymore?)

Child Training Tuesday: Library Book List

Today I am going to start adding to the Child Training Tuesday with our favorite Library Book List. We go to the library about every 2-3 weeks and my boys love to read! I wanted to have a better way of sharing great children's books with one another. So, if you have a great list, post it on your blog and leave a comment with a link to your list! Thanks! banana moon..............by Janet Marshall
This book is visually fun for younger children!
Because of You.............by B.G. Hennessy; illustrations by Hiroe Nakata
A very special book about the ways your child CAN make a differnece in the world: sharing, loving, being peaceable, etc...
I Call It Sky..............by Will C. Howell; illustrations by John Ward
A good book for learning about the atmosphere, although it is really much more lovely than a "science" book!
I Saw an Ant on the Railroad Track............by Joshua Prince; illustrations by Macky Pamintuan
A very fun book with good rhythm and rhyme, my boys want this ready at least twice a day!
John Philip Duck...............by Patricia Polacco
Loosley based on the true story of how the ducks at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN started. You can find our more here.
Mouse Cookies & More: A Treasury..............Laura Numeroff; illustrations by Felicia Bond
We first got one of these book in a Chick-Fil-A kid's meal and they are so fun. This particular book comes with recipes, games and fun activities to go along with each story. It also reads the story aloud and has fun songs to go along with the animals! We have had lots of fun with this one.
Niccolini's Song...............by Chuck Wilcoxen; illustrations by Mark Buehner
This was our favorite from this batch! It is such a sweet and beautiful story about a man who comforts all those around him with his beautiful railway lullabies.
